1.) Describe your character's relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no? Rosa has always had a wonderful relationship with her parents. They are her inspiration. She respects their opinions and is able to speak openly with them when it comes to personal matters. Growing up, Rosa was probably closer to her mother, simply because she enjoyed more feminine pastimes such as sewing and baking, but she also enjoyed spending time with her father out on his boat.
2.) What are your characters most prominent physical features? I would have to say her eyes. They're brown and framed by long dark lashes. Apart from that maybe her lips.
3.) Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don't have any, is there a reason? Rosa doesn't have any scars, which is unusual because she's always in heels and was always an active kid. Plus, her job occasionally requires some running around...
4.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive? You might think that Rosa was vain due to the pride she takes in her appearance, but no. She likes to dress up and make herself look pretty for her own benefit, nobody else's. If anyone were to judge Rosa solely on her looks then she would have an issue with that. She would rate herself as having average looks but nothing special.
5.) What's your character's ranking on the KINSEY SCALE? No more than 0.5 - she's pretty comfortable in her sexuality.
6.) Describe your character's happiest memory. Any of the family summers growing up. They'd all go out on her dad's boat and take a picnic so that they could have lunch wherever they happened to dock that day. After that they'd spend time either fishing or swimming, or if it wasn't very warm they'd play board games instead.
7.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why? There's nothing that Rosa would erase from her past. That's not to say that everything's been great, but she believes in fate and things happening for a reason.
8.) Day of Favorites! What's your character's favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower? Rosa's favourite ice cream flavour is raspberry ripple. Her favourite colour is red and her favourite song is "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley. Rosa's favourite flower is a tie between gardenia and rose.
9.) Who does your character trust? Rosa trusts her parents completely. She has a good level of trust in her brother too. Outside of her family, Rosa trusts Evan a great deal.
10.) Can you define a turning point in your character's life? Multiples are acceptable. The only proper turning point would be her being taken under the wing of Evan's father and becoming his secretary at SCOPE. Before that she didn't really have a clear idea of what she wanted to do with her life.
11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character? Rosa is very much like an owl to me. She's kind of calm and unassuming but also very wise and quick to strike if needed.
12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email? Rosa is very good with technology, although she wouldn't consider herself to be interested in tech stuff, and the majority of her skills are those that she uses in her job. Being a bit old fashioned in ways, she does love writing letters rather than using email.
13.) What does your character's bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep? Rosa's bed is actually quite neat when she wakes as she doesn't tend to move around a lot in her sleep. The only thing that gets out of place would be her pillows. She has so many of them that the odd one will fall off the bed from time to time. She sleeps on her back or on her side, usually with one arm tucked underneath a pillow.
14.) How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold? She definitely prefers the cooler temperatures to extreme heat. She can get very irritable when the weather's too hot.
15.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl? Early morning bird, for sure. Rosa loves to wake up and greet a new day. She'll sit and eat breakfast in her pyjamas before getting ready for work, where she arrives fresh and prepared for whatever the day brings.
16.) Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative? The nature of her work makes it difficult for her to socialise, but when she has free time she likes to go over to Ireland and visit her father's side of the family, especially her grandmother. She sees the Dutch side of her family more often.
17.) What's your character's desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy? Rosa is quite neat, but not obsessive about it. She likes to keep everything in it's place though, and that extends to her boss' desk as well as her own. You'd definitely be able to spot Rosa's desk, due to the fact that it's distinctly girly. There are some framed pictures, floral notelets, a box of tissues, some artificial flowers, etc.
18.) Is your character a good cook? What's their favorite recipe, whether they're good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.) Rosa is a good cook, but she rarely gets the chance to cook properly for anybody other than herself. When she does cook, her signature dish would be a roast dinner, although she also makes a mean fish pie. She does love to bake though, especially cupcakes.
19.) What's your character's preferred means of travel? Rosa's preferred means of travel would probably be plane as it's useful in her line of work. She doesn't really like to drive much. She's spent a lot of time on boats so that would probably be her second choice.
20.) Does your character have any irrational fears? The only thing that really bothers Rosa is anything happening to her family. I would say that was irrational though.
21.) What would your character's CUTIE MARK be? That's an interesting one...maybe something that incorporates her family and heritage. Perhaps a pretty bow with one half decorated like a Dutch flag and the other half like an Irish flag? Or a shamrock and a tulip???
22.) If your character could time travel, where would they go? Definitely to the 1950s and early 1960s because that era is the inspiration for her style. I think she'd fit in really well.
23.) Is your character superstitious? Not on a day to day basis. She's not freaked out about walking under ladders or breaking mirrors or anything like that. Her superstitions are the ones that she's picked up from her father. He has little things he does before he goes out on his boat which he believes keep him and the family safe.
24.) What might your character's ideal romantic partner be? Somebody who admires and appreciates her little quirks. They would have to be a little protective but not smother her with attention, because she's a free spirit at heart. She's also an old fashioned romantic, so she wants the whole "butterflies everytime she sees him" feeling.
25.) Describe your character's hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby? Rosa's hands are on the smaller side with slender fingers and generally smooth to the touch. She paints her nails occasionally in pink or red tones.
26.) Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday.
Rosa's favourite comfort food is something warm and sweet, such as a doughnut or a sweet pastry, and her favourite vice would be eating the sweet pastries! Her favourite outfit would be a prom dress with a full skirt, paired with her favourite pair of heels that are red and glittery. Rosa's favourite hot drink is cappuccino, but in the winter it has to be hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. Her favourite time of year is springtime, and her favourite holiday is Christmas.
27.) Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them. Not right now, my mind's blank. Rosa's a tough one to think of songs for.
28.) If your character's life was a genre, what would it be? Action with elements of comedy maybe, and of course a dose of romance.
29.) How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne? Rosa wears perfume more often than not. She favours light floral scents such as rose, lilac, and honeysuckle.
30.) And finally: Write a letter to your character, from yourself.
Dear Rosa,
Your everything I love in a character, from your style to your background and even the stuff that hasn't been revealed yet! I can honestly say that working with you gives me such a sense of pride. Without you I'm not sure that SCOPE would be able to function properly! I hope that you're happy with things up to now, and that you're as excited as I am to see what happens to you and the rest of the gang in 2015.
